Tickets to Vietnam World Cup qualifier against Iraq cost steep $24

The highest ticket prices for Vietnam's home game against Iraq in the 2026 World Cup qualifying round are nearly three times those of their away game in the Philippines.

The tickets for the Vietnam - Iraq match are priced at VND200,000, VND300,000, VND450,000 and VND600,000 (US$24.45).

The match is on Nov. 21 at the 40,000-seat My Dinh National Stadium and the Vietnam Football Federation will sell around 30,0000 tickets and earmark 10,000 others for guests. The tickets can only be bought online starting Nov. 7.

The tickets for the match in the Philippines on Nov. l6 at the 12,873-capacity Rizal Memorial Stadium cost 100 pesos, 300 pesos and 500 pesos ($8.97). Their sale opened at the end of October.

But it has to be noted that in Vietnam football is by far the number one sport, while in the Philippines it is probably behind others such as basketball and boxing.

The Vietnamese team will begin training for the Philippines match on Nov. 6.

The second round of qualifying includes 36 teams divided into nine groups of four who will play in a double round-robin format from November 16 to June 11.

The top two in each group will enter the third round.

Vietnam are in group F with Iraq, the Philippines and Indonesia.
